Aborigines tell of their grim lifestyles
This article might be used in a social science class as well as a mathematics class. Talking about "causes" of the differences between Aborigines and the rest of Australians needs to be handled sensitively, if it is done. There is opportunity to devise graphical representations to show the comparisons discussed in the article. Students need to be careful in interpreting the figures because sometimes the contrast to indigenous people is non-indigenous people and sometimes it is all Australians. It is also possible to ask some percentage questions.
