THE Hobart suburb of New Town is again listed on Australia's top 10 places for burglaries. The Brisbane suburb of Annerley was the most burgled suburb in Aust- ralia in 1996 with almost 10.7 burglaries per 100 homes insured, a survey by NZI Insurance re- ports. New Town is ranked No 10 in the survey, released yesterday, with 8.5 burglaries per 100 homes insured. In 1995 New Town was ranked 8th and Glen- orchy 9th. Glenorchy was not on the 1996 list. NZI assistant general manager Mike Amphlett said the relatively low burglary rates in Sydney and Melbourne were at first unexpected, but had been repeated in each survey in the past few years. The 10 most burgled suburbs: 1, Annerley (Brisbane) 10.7 claim per hundred homes in- sured; 2,Norwood (Adel- aide) 10.1;3, Shailer Park (Brisbane)9.5; 4, Hamilton Hill(Perth) 9.3;5, Morley(Perth)9.2; 6, Applecross (Perth)9.2; 7, Greenbank (Brisbane) 9.1; 8, Como (Perth)9.0; 9, Walkerville(Adelaide) 8.9; 10, New Town 8.5.
