FISH, vegetables, a sprinkle of
olive oil, bread, fruit and a glass of
wine to wash the lot down is the
ideal menu to avoid heart ailments,
say French scientists. Cut down on
meat and stay off butter and cream,
said the scientists from the French
Institute for Health and Medical
Research. They divided a group of
584 heart patients into two groups
given different diets over 27
months. Patients eating their
usual diet suffered 16 heart attacks
while there were only three heart
attacks in the group given the
Mediterranean diet.
